Berg River Dam is a sensitive government waterworks environment managed under Department of Water and Sanitation lease conditions and environmental controls.
All recreational water activities are subject to:
site regulations;
environmental protection measures;
safety protocols;
and controlled access requirements.

Canoeing
Kayaking
Paddle activities
Non-motorised recreational water use
(subject to operational conditions and weather)
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
All visitors must:
enter through authorised access points;
register upon arrival;
pay applicable access fees;
comply with staff instructions and zoning controls;
use designated launch areas only;
park in designated parking areas only.
STRICTLY PROHIBITED
Trespassing
Driving vehicles into the dam basin
Shoreline vehicle parking
Informal launch points
Environmental disturbance

Washing equipment in the dam

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
The Berg River Dam forms part of a strategic water resource system. Access controls and environmental rules exist to:
protect water quality;
prevent contamination;
reduce erosion and sediment disturbance;
preserve biodiversity;
and ensure safe recreational use for all visitors.
RIGHT OF ACCESS
Management reserves the right to refuse or revoke access to any person not complying with site regulations, environmental requirements or lawful instructions.
All users enter entirely at own risk.
